Curiosity in Action: HYS Students Host Science Fair

Science in Action at HYS

For many of us, science fairs bring back familiar memories: tri-fold boards, bold hypotheses, and the excitement of testing an idea.

At Harborcreek Youth Services, that experience came to life on March 18th as students hosted a campus-wide Science Fair, inviting staff and visitors to explore their work. With almost 30 students participating, the gym was filled with curiosity and innovation.

Building, Testing, and Learning

In addition to their individual displays, students worked in groups designing and building bridges using popsicle sticks. They tested their strength by stacking books to measure how much weight they could hold. One group’s bridge successfully supported an impressive 100 books!

What stood out most was not just the projects, but that the kids were able to confidently explain their hypotheses, walk visitors through the Scientific Method, and reflect on what they’d learned.

This event reflects HYS’ commitment to hands-on learning, skill building, and creating opportunities for students to succeed. Thank you to all of our wonderful teachers and staff for making this happen, and congratulations to all of our students!
