Healing is at the heart of our work here at Harborcreek Youth Services. We are a psychiatric residential treatment facility and as such, all programs and services are focused on the mental health needs of the kids we serve. Child Psychiatric Services are provided for all residents. Psychiatry staff oversee treatment planning, provide clinical leadership to the Treatment Team, psychiatric evaluation and consultation, and medical management of medication while overseeing the provision of all medical treatment provided to each client.
Therapeutic services are provided in individual, family, and group formats. In addition to the daily support provided by unit and agency personnel, clients are paired with both a Masters level therapist and a childcare counselor who work intensively to reach the clients’ individualized treatment goals.
HYS has a commitment to the implementation of evidence-based programs and has adopted a Trauma-Informed Developmental Practice Model in clinical work with clients. Our work is heavily influenced by Ricky Greenwald’s models from The Child Trauma Institute. Our Multisensory Expressive Therapies include art, music, writing, the Barton Reading and Spelling System, and movement therapy while incorporating the latest advances in trauma modalities, such as EMDR, Progressive Counting, and TRE. We also provide skill-building groups (such as ARISE Life Skills, New Freedom Curriculum, problem-solving and Sanctuary® Psycho-education), case management, and additional group therapy based on the individual’s needs including The Good Lives Model for problem sexual behavior, drug and alcohol psycho-education, loss support, therapeutic writing, and diagnosis-specific treatment (for depression, anger management, etc.).
